With a BSc Engineering, BA Social Science, Diploma in Gender & Development and Post Graduate Certificate in Education John brings a wealth of experience.
He’s also had a varied career in Avionic Engineering for 29 years working in research, including work in China, and with the RAF working for GEC and Bae Systems.
Then, 14 years ago, he decided it was time for a change, so I took a year out to train as a maths teacher.
“I thought it was time to retire – but then I was approached by Smallpeice and offered a job as an Education Officer,” he told us.
John always tells students as part of his presentations that: “You probably won’t be famous as an engineer, but you will be sure of being in work and earning an above average wage”.
He’s currently building a campervan. So, this, combined with looking after grandchildren and working for Smallpeice: “It doesn’t seem there’s much time for anything else.”
