McLaren Racing Offers Exciting Opportunities for Future Talent
As part of our ongoing partnership, we are delighted to be part of a groundbreaking collaboration with four other esteemed partners as part of McLaren’s Racing Engage Alliance initiative. The Smallpeice Trust is proud to be working alongside McLaren Racing for a third year running!
Being the first programme of its kind within Formula 1, the McLaren Racing Engage Alliance aims to pioneer a strategic alliance with The Smallpeice Trust and four esteemed partners (Creative Access, Women’s Engineering Society (WES), Girls on Track UK and Path to the Pits) to improve diversity and inclusion across the motorsport industry.
McLaren Racing Engage is the team’s flagship DE&I initiative aimed at fostering a more diverse and inclusive culture in motorsport. The Smallpiece Trust supports this agenda that encourages STEM and Formula 1 as accessible careers for under-represented and underprivileged groups, especially for those who have a keen interest and passion for the motorsport industry.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is a key pillar of McLaren Racing’s Sustainability Strategy and the team has set a target of 40% of its people to come from underrepresented groups by 2030. This includes women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, neurodivergence, the LGBTQ+ community and people from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
As part of McLaren Racing’s partnership with The Smallpiece Trust, McLaren Racing continues to sponsor our prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship programme. Since 2021, five students commenced a two-year sponsorship, followed by an additional seven students receiving scholarships in both 2022 and 2023.
We’re also pleased to be expanding our STEM Challenge Days from Woking to encompass schools in and around the Bicester area. This engaging challenge aims to introduce students to the captivating world of engineering by focusing on designing and constructing an F1 car, along with the opportunity to pitch for investment.
McLaren Racing Engage aims to tackle the STEM skills shortage, address systemic inequalities, and find new ways to open pathways into motorsport careers. For more information regarding this groundbreaking alliance, please visit McLaren Racing’s website: Explaining McLaren Racing Engage
